We stand united (Celebrate life)
2009 is the International Year of the Child.
At the beginning of the year, Helen Matter, the local
Diocesan Schools advisor
challenged me to write a song to use at events during this year
Well it took 4 months, and here it is!
The aim was to get quite an 'anthemic' chorus and two contrasting verses - one
on unity and the other as a prayer for justice
below are the lyrics to 'celebrate life'
We stand united; Children, as one
Future for all of the world
We join together, from every land
Part of the family of God
Everyone precious, Everyone loved
All of us known by our name
Celebrate life, this gift we
are living
Celebrate hope, for all of mankind
Celebrate love, to share with each other
Celebrate life, hand in hand
We pray for freedom, mercy and
peace
Justice for all of the world
We ask God’s blessing on every land
Longing for each child to know
