God so loved

In the preparation of our large scale Christmas music project in 2012 called 'Waiting or Christmas' I wanted to write a song that linked the gift of God's love at Christmas to our salvation
I had been working on an adaptation of Stainer's 'God so loved the world' but it wasnt really taking shape, nor having the right feel
Josh encouraged me to be fairly bold in using the John 3 v 16 passage as the centre-point of the song
This song went through 3 complete re-writes before I got to the version you now hear - and it was a struggle finally complete
Then came Wendy's single-but-very-significant-lyric contribution - the line 'how beautiful is your amazing love' which really made the chorus and the whole song complete
The recording is intentionally kept quite simple - I believe the less is more adage is really relevant here!
We just finished in time to tried it out at an Easter 2012 service - and it worked, so we recorded it and later in the year filmed the video you see linked on youtube
